- - the starting line - -

This blog is a place where I hope I am able to express my wishes, desires, life's fears, stories, feelings, and thoughts. A place that is safe from criticism, from fault, and from judgment. The last two years have been a roller coaster of adventure. At times i feel i am riding an extreme high where things seem like they could not go wrong. Other moments fill me with that stomach dropping ache and fear that leave me in state where I am not sure what will happen next. Either way, life has been amazing and the adventures have led me to this new chapter in my life.

When I say I work at Colorado State University in the Department of Campus Recreation, people think I work at a gym. I do work at a gym, but it is not just a gym. It is a student recreation center, a living lab of learning, of interacting with students on a daily basis, a fun and truly exciting place to work. I've worked at a few student recreation centers in my life, and each one is different. Each one has a different culture, a different make-up of students, and a different department focus. I'm excited to be working at CSU and I love the students here!

I think I'm most nervous about making a positive impact on my students' lives. I want them to know that I care about them and even when I'm disciplining them that I am just trying to prepare them for the future. I want to walk around confidently like I know how to do my job, instead of just pretending. I want to not be scared to make mistakes. I want to learn, grow, and develop my relationships with coworkers and students to a whole new level. I want new responsibilities and tasks that will make me more well rounded. I want to impact students' lives like I was impacted by my supervisors at UC Davis and JMU. But mostly I want this to be the starting line of a fantastically fulfilling career...
